Stone Crab claws must measure at least 2 7/8 inches in length measured by a straight line from the elbow to the tip of the lower immovable finger. Only claws may be harvested.

Illegal to possess whole crab. Harvest of egg-bearing crabs prohibited.

Bag limit: 1 gallon of claws per person or 2 gallons per vessel, whichever is less.

It is unlawful to use any device on the taking of stone crabs that can puncture, crush, or injure the crab body, such as spears, grains, grabs, hooks or similar devices.

Maximum of 5 stone crabs traps per person as described in the summary of stone crab trapping rules at MyFWC.com. Traps must be pulled manually during daylight hours. All recreational trap harvesters who are age 16 and older are now required to complete an online, no-cost recreational stone crab trap registration before using their traps.
